Aston Hall, a Jacobean mansion, built in 17th century. Carbon print. Photographed in 1897. The entrance was marked by hinged chair. A note on the back of the photograph states that the view a shows the part of the stairs shattered by a cannon ball during the Cromwellian siege in the Civil War
